“Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking,” Miranda Priestly, a fashion editor played by Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada, said sarcastically. However, as nature bursts into life and as the days become longer and sunnier in spring, we opt for floral patterns, stripes, delicate pastels and subtle fabrics. You will find some of these in our spring/summer 2020 collection.
Changing seasons fill us with new emotions and transform the world around us. Spring is also the time when we make changes to our homes and their surroundings: we retrieve colourful furniture covers from overhead cupboards, change cushions and hang lighter, airy curtains. We focus on outdoor relaxation spaces: patios, gazebos and garden furniture. Even a balcony can be transformed into an oasis of rest with just a couple of additions. All you need is a comfortable seat or deckchair, table, string lights or lanterns and some flowers in pots or boxes. Fabrics come in very handy when making such changes in spring – there are several fabrics in our collection that will perfectly suit this purpose.
DEMETER
According to Greek mythology, Demeter, the goddess of the harvest, would each year rejoice in the return of her daughter Persephone from the underworld and decorate the earth with flowers, which marked the beginning of spring. The fabric named after the goddess has been decorated with a pattern of interpenetrating flowers, printed digitally on a linen-polyester backing. The slight stonewashed effect resembles watercolours or impressionist paintings.
HOLIDAY
Our striped acrylic outdoor fabric Holiday is a harbinger of forthcoming holidays. This year, its dark and light blue variants will be the trendiest choice – after all, Classic Blue is the colour of the year. Holiday can be used as an upholstery fabric, but it is also perfectly suitable for parasols, blinds, awnings and windbreaks. With its finish and good colour fastness to light, the fabric is resistant to sunlight and water.
PURO
The pastel and natural tones of our decorative fabric Puro resemble Easter eggs coloured with natural dyes: onion skins, turmeric, elderberry, yarrow and alder cones. As Puro is 3 metres wide and has a fine-mesh structure, it is perfect for window dressings. It is light, airy and subtle, drapable, and slightly translucent, giving a romantic effect. It is also very universal and suits almost every interior – it all depends on the styling and colour we choose.
PANGEA
Spring is the time when we want to be close to nature, and choosing natural fibres will certainly serve this purpose. Our pure linen fabric Pangea has an ethnic print inspired by handicraft. Given its natural, muted colours, the fabric is best suited for ethnic- and colonial-style interiors. As the fabric is soft and elastic to the touch, it is perfect for window dressings, cushions and chair covers.
