LUIGI
For the second time Dekoma was part of the House of Ideas, an event organised by Design Alive. Our fabrics were used in an amazing project, whose purpose was to inspire with high-quality design and promote beautiful interiors, which are often unavailable to a broader audience.
Unusually, this year’s House of Ideas was part of the Warsaw Home trade fair. In this extensive project, part of a large commercial event, we created an innovative exhibition stand of superior quality.
The result is a space whose aesthetic features go beyond those usually found in exhibition stands. The House of Ideas is a mix between an art exhibition at a gallery and a conversation space. Our stand has been created with the help of the event partners invited to participate in the project by Design Alive.
Using over 300 m of fabrics from the Oslo, Luigi and Cameron collections, we created drapes which formed walls of our exposition stand, and delineated showcase and meeting rooms. They were also the background for photographs and interior decoration items. Our goal was to present fabrics in an original but at the same time functional way. We strive to demonstrate the yet undiscovered potential of fabrics in interior decoration and the House of Ideas is the perfect medium to do so.
The installation above the bar was created by the Beza Projekt team. The materials are made of scraps of fabric that were sawn together and hung above the bar. With projects like this in mind, we try not to toss any scraps of fabric. We are fully aware that they may still be useful. In Poland, there is no official institution responsible for recycling of decorative and furniture fabrics.
Christina Wiklund, CMF manager at Kinnarps, described this year’s House of Ideas the following way: “It’s a modern interpretation of baroque mixed with Scandinavian simplicity”.
During the fair Christina also gave a lecture, predicting the return of baroque elements in interior decoration.
The studio responsible for the overall design of the stand was Beza Projekt, recipient of the MUST HAVE! award at the Łódź Design Festival, the AMORIM and the Domaine Boisbuchet awards in 2012, and distinction at the Cannes Lions 2012.
Participation in conceptual projects within the House of Ideas is part of our cooperation with institutions promoting high-quality design in Poland and abroad.
