The first exhibition in the cycle will feature works by Katarzyna-Schmidt Przewoźna, PhD, who graduated from the University of Fine Arts in Poznań (the National Higher School of Plastic Arts at the time), where she studied interior design and textiles.

For many years Katarzyna Schmidt-Przewoźna was the artistic director of Cepelia. She is also the founder of the “Natural Art” Natural Dyeing Laboratory at the Institute of Natural Fibres and Medicinal Plants, where she has been working for over 20 years.

Logwood is a natural mordant dye, used for dyeing natural fabrics. It is sourced from the heartwood of logwood tree (Haematoxylum campechianum). Logwood produces different colours, like purple, lilac, ruddy, brown, navy blue, and black, depending on the mordant used (salts of different metals) and water pH.

This exhibition is the first in the cycle titled “Weaves”. Each installation will be exhibited for 3 months.
