Weaves #3

This time, the Weaves micro-exhibitions features a collection of unique textile sculptures – Creatures – made by Aleksandra Richert, a designer from Łódź.

It is the third edition of the project presenting a choice of works by textile artists.

Inspired by nature, organic shapes of plants, and the diversity of fauna, the objects have a great decorative value. Kept indoors, they function as decorative works of art.

They are made of felt fabric, to which they owe their multisensory properties. Hugged, stroked, scratched, picked at, the objects offer a great diversity of auditory and tactile stimuli.

Each of the Creatures has its unique texture. Touched, they make different noises, while their colours stimulate the sense of sight. Laid on the couch or floor, they will make a great soft toy to hug or a piece lounge furniture to rest upon.

In her studio, Aleksandra Richert explores textiles as a medium. Her works are closely related to the direct surroundings of man. The artist aims towards showing textiles as modern utility objects, which do not necessarily have to be associated with art. With their intriguing shapes, forms and colours, Richert’s works are predominantly handmade with the use of her own original technique, which makes them truly extraordinary.
