The name of the fabric – Vimini – comes from the Italian language and means wicker. What makes it unique is the so-called basket weave (hopsack). It is most common in the clothing industry, where it has been known in various versions as 'Oxford' since the mid-19th century. The structure of the braid is over-scaled, expressive, and endows Vimini with its original character. The basket weave determines not only its appearance, which is reminiscent of a fairly regular chessboard, but also its parameters, drapability, haptic properties and possible applications.
The use of mélange fibres in the weave also determines the attractiveness of Vimini. A subtle coloured collage in the weft and warp produces a fresh, interesting visual effect. It creates a non-obvious pattern on the braid. This means that Vimini can be integrated into various arrangement projects, both in the modern and retro style.
The palette of 22 Vimini colours comprises intense hues, with contrasts enhanced by the mélange effect, as well as subtler, slightly muted shades. The colour range is very natural: it includes very light grey, as well as several versions of beige, green, ochre and dark brown.
