MONTEROSSO
Local architectural inspirations from Poznań’s Jeżyce district and Italian flavours infused with a modern twist. If you find this blend surprising, you should step into Loro, where the design team from Jeju Studio, founded by Iwo Borkowicz, has crafted an authentic culinary embassy of Italy. The restaurant’s eclectic décor features four of our fabrics: Ambiente, Monterosso, Tela, and Cameron.
It is best to begin your visit to Loro with a stroll across north-eastern Jeżyce, one of the central districts in Poznań, which gained renown through Małgorzata Musierowicz’s iconic “Jeżycjada” series for young readers. The designers embraced the eclectic architecture of the neighbourhood, occasionally echoing details from local façades. “In this project, we recognised place identity as its co creator and a mine of narratives. The interior of Loro is meant to entertain and engage with the spirit of the surroundings, while simultaneously asserting its Italian identity”, says Iwo Borkowicz.
Guests are greeted by a replica of a 15th century Italian villa kitchen, featured in the film “Call Me by Your Name”. The space showcases Czechoslovakian metal chandeliers from the 1960s, alongside Danish wooden and Italian metal chairs from the 1970s, complemented by lamps and furniture from JEJU Studio, many of which share the motif of lacquered or wooden spheres. The entire interior is profoundly Italian, one that could easily belong on the streets of Milan or Rome, even decades ago.
At Loro, the fabrics play varied roles, screening, softening the light, and cladding veneered benches along the walls. The windows and other spots in the restaurant feature charming café style curtains crafted from our Monterosso fabric. The Cameron chenille curtain in the bold Tangerine 303 shade creates a striking backdrop for the round alcove table, ideal for special occasions and exceptional dining. The Tela fabric, glowing under warm light, frames the wine display and at the same time fosters a cosy atmosphere. The benches are upholstered in Ambiente, a marbled-pattern fabric, perfect for intensively used interiors.
