CORD 140030
Trimmings are the jewellery for the interior. Decorative cords and tapes can be used in many innovative ways, when creating both furniture and textile decorations and trimmings, such as curtains, drapes, cushions, bedspreads, lambrequins, tablecloths and lampshades. In the new photo shoot, we present inspirations showing how to choose and combine haberdashery with fabrics.
Colour is an important factor in the selection of haberdashery. Cords, tapes and tassels can be chosen to contrast the fabric. Another option is to combine different shades of the same colour. This kind of combination is particularly elegant and can be compared to the effect of stuccowork on the walls and ceiling, and decorative trim mouldings in a room.
While choosing haberdashery, it is worth considering the material it is made from as well as the look and texture of the fabric you are combining it with. Natural, slightly rustic linen fabrics can be matched with similar lace or cord, while wool can be best completed with tassels and pompoms made from the same fabric. In the case of velours, all tapes, cords and tassels made of shiny, smooth fibres will work perfectly.
The current trends focus on haberdashery accessories with simple forms, dominated by cords, tapes and tassels, which are quite discreet in their subdued colours, and match contemporary interiors. On the other hand, thin tassels, inspired by the Art Deco style of the 1920s, used to finish armchairs and pouffes, are becoming increasingly fashionable.
