Between art and design
Apart from her recent projects, the portfolio of a world-famous French designer Inga Sempé features TARA, the collection of fabrics created in cooperation with an Italian brand, Alcantara. The first Polish exhibition of the collection took place in the Atelier Myszkowski gallery, as part of the Arena Design fair and the accompanying event “Design City Poznań” (pol. “Miasto żyje designem”). The aim of the latter was to go beyond the conventional framework of exhibiting design and to activate the urban space as a creative platform for designers.
The following pictures illustrate the exhibition of an installation created from TARA materials. Walls in the Atelier Myszkowski gallery were lined with panels upholstered with TARA in several subdued colours. The panels formed a background for Victor Cavazzioni’s illustrations in TARA-upholstered frames. A man in a specific place – a hotel apartment, coffee shop, house or airport – was the main theme represented in the illustrations. In each of them, one could find an element of Sempé's design which, combined with the frame and panels, contributed to a cohesive 3D effect.
Official opening of the exhibition added lustre to the event.
