About textiles in a festive mood
Little things, big effect. How textile details create a holiday mood.
LEVANTE
The character of the interior, its mood and colour are determined by small things, tiny, seemingly insignificant details. We realise this every year during the Christmas season, when we prepare our homes for these few festive days. This is the time when look for appropriate decorations, dig out old Christmas tree ornaments, and recall memories of the past years because it is these items that create the mood and inspire our home stories.

Fabrics play a special role in this scenery game, as even small pieces can change the character and style of the table, kitchen, dining room and bedroom. Tiny scraps of raw linen or cotton percale covering the lids of jars or glass containers for storing homemade goodies will transform your kitchen before Christmas. In an even more festive version, they can also be used to decorate jars of preserves, which may become presents for your loved ones.

Similarly, fabric will work its magic as a material for exceptional gift wrapping (we have a post about Furoshiki on our blog). A rectangular or square piece of shiny silk, satin, taffeta or even ordinary printed cotton is enough for the simplest object to take on a mysterious, surprising form. A piece of haberdashery tape is an even homier solution. Tied around a blanket, a pillow or a bottle of homemade liqueur or good wine, it will turn them into extraordinary gifts.

The same linen or cotton, enveloping fresh bread or other baked goods, can accompany our everyday meals, turning the most ordinary moments into a unique experience.

Setting the table. Festive ceremonies with a tablecloth in the background.
Setting the table for a festive meal is a moment when we realise how hard it would be to imagine a world without textiles. It is when all the table textiles, such as tablecloths, runners, tray cloths and napkins come to our rescue. Moreover, these pieces of fabric can line bread bins, envelop warm patties or simply be wrapped around cutlery in an ingenious, decorative way.
When organising Christmas dinner parties, it is good to prepare a few changes of textile accessories, so that each meal and opportunity to sit together at the table has a different style. It is sufficient to change napkins, the way they are folded and presented in the company of dishes, so that the moments spent at the table are delightful and – just like Christmas dishes we tried in our childhood – stay in our memory forever.

Plan a home textile celebration. Remember about fresh bedding, blankets and pillows. Choose colours, patterns and types of fabrics to suit the mood of the moment. Use them to design different worlds, because they create the ambience, make it pleasant, and above all, physically and sensually add warmth to this special time.
We wish you a beautiful, warm, and cosy textile Christmas!

Hand-woven silk shantung, available in a variety of dazzling colours. Very posh and sophisticated, this is a truly unique silk material, with two-coloured yarn and remarkable colours and texture. It has relatively low sun resistance, so take that into consideration when designing your decorations. Lining (preferably black-out) is a must. Due to the fact that it is a natural fabric, there might be differences in colour, both between batches of the fabric and within a single bolt.
