"Sit in the NFM" photo report

A design exhibition titled “Sit in the NFM. The art of designing seating furniture” took place between 28 April and 24 June in the National Music Forum(NFM) in Wrocław. We supported the event by providing 200 metres of our Spring Cinnabal velvet fabric, which served as a background for exhibits. The preview of the exhibition was attended by a large number of designers, representatives of Polish art schools, students and media representatives. One could argue that designers have exhausted ideas for seating furniture. The number of models designed over the last hundreds of years is limited. Moreover, seating furniture has obligatory components and its dimensions are subject to the principles of ergonomics. However, new models are being created all the time and while they still often have only four legs and a backrest, each new version seems different from the previous ones. New technologies provide designers of seating furniture with innovative materials and new manufacturing methods, which enable them to achieve good, original, previously unavailable effects. This could clearly be seen at the “Sit in the NFM” exhibition in Wrocław, which included several dozen models of furniture representing a wide range of design approaches, ranging from experiments and art to industrial production.

The event was organised under the aegis of the Department of Furniture of the Faculty of Interior Architecture, Design and Stage Design of the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław as part of the 13^th edition of the “Resonances of Art”, a cycle of exhibitions co-organised with the NFM in Wrocław.
