“Melancholia” is the title of an atmospheric photo session at Studio Mleko in Poznań. While preparing the set design, the author - Kamil Kiewel, used the Melba Onyx fabric, distinguished by its glossy black surface, giving the entire set a unique character.
“Melancholia” is a photographic story on the border of fashion and art. A story open to interpretation and a sublimation of the world of feelings and inner experiences. The photographs form a sequence that draws the viewer into an intimate story, showing exposed images emerging from the fog. The limited colour palette is balanced by a multitude of light and shade effects, such as the model's outfits and makeup, that absorb and reflect light, drawing the viewer’s attention and contrasting with the whole. Similar effects have been used in the scenography of the session, creating a dreamlike space. The fabric from our collection - Melba Onyx - named after a popular gemstone for a good reason, played an important role in creating the set design.
The characteristic gloss of the Melba decorative fabric is the effect of calendering, i.e. smoothing the surface during the rolling process. Dark shades create a mysterious atmosphere that perfectly emphasises the moody ambience of the session. Contrasted with Melba matte fabrics, it diversifies the set design with a variety of textures and iridescent accents. As a decorative fabric with a height of 295 cm, it is suitable for both curtains and drapes.
Fabric from the DEKOMA collection used in the session:
Melba is a decorative fabric available in a wide range of colours. Calendering gives it an interesting gloss. Perfect for arranging elegant, luxurious interiors in the glamour style. Dark colours in particular can help you create an aura of mystery and sophistication in the room, and the shimmering surface can add extra character to the interiors if combined with matte fabrics. Its economical size (295 cm) helps make the most of the fabric. Wash with water or dry-clean.
