What intrigued us was the venue – an old mansion, which is home to the amazing Book Art Museum and a typography studio. We decided to join in, as fabrics were to play quite an unusual part in the event. All in all, 120 m of Dekoma Charles fabric were used to create 3.5 m high draperies hung around one of the rooms, forming a background for the exhibition of Przemo Łukasik’s photographs.
The draperies corresponded with the furniture (upholstered in patterned fabrics from our partner, Gaston y Daniela) produced by Bejot, Motiv Home and Noti. We used the same fabrics to make over 20 cushions, which were later arranged about the room.
Two weeks before the Łódź Design Festival, during a corresponding event in London, designer Lorenzo Castillo presented his new collection of fabrics created for Gaston y Daniela – “Lorenzo Castillo vol. IV”. Since the Spanish fabrics perfectly matched the eclectic interior of the mansion, we decided that Łódź is just the place to present them for the first time in Poland.
Hidden from view, this incredible house reveals the potential of abandoned buildings not only in Łódź, but all over Poland. Events taking place in such extraordinary interiors allow us to show the possible applications of fabrics in interior design as well as promote fabrics with beautiful, bold patterns counter to the current trends in Poland.
The House of Ideas is beyond doubt an initiative of great potential, which will hopefully lead to discovering other interiors, which for now remain unexplored.
